Week 11 Run 4

Yesterday was a tempo run. I will admit, I wanted to do 5 miles at my tempo speed of 6:58 miles but I only did 4 at that pace. I probably could have even done it without any problems but for some reason I talked myself into thinking 4 was enough. Anyway, I did a warmup and cooldown mile so I ran a total of 6 miles.

Week 11 Run 3

So I finally did it, I completed a double digit run. Last night I logged 10 miles and I don't think I had anything left in the tank. It felt good, like a runner's rite of passage. However, yesterday I also registered for the St. George Marathon and after my 10 mile run I started to question that move.

Anyway, the run was really pretty good. I was having some self doubts about whether I could actually complete such a distance. I started at an 8:00 pace and increased my speed every mile, with the final mile being right around 7:10. I am a little sore this morning, but I don't really care, it was totally worth it. Besides, I am not as sore as I thought I would be so that is a definite bonus.

Week 11 Run 2

This run was much better than Monday's. I did my speed intervals and ended up running about 5.5 miles total. This was a .5 mile warmup followed by alternating between a 7 minute mile and a 2 minute rest interval. So I did 4 7 minute miles in all and the warmup cool down and resting intervals made up for the other 1.5 miles. Next week I would like to add another speed mile and reduce my resting interval to 1:30.

Anyway, that was a better run and it gave me some much needed confidence.
